Access to justice for refugees and asylum seekers is too often hindered by limited resources, fragmented information, and systemic barriers. Around the world, legal advisors and organizations face similar challenges. Many have developed effective and innovative ways to navigate legal frameworks and use available mechanisms innovatively and creatively to uphold the rights of displaced people.

Why We Collaborate

At AsyLex Global, we believe collaboration is key. By working together, we become more effective, share solutions that work, avoid duplication, and amplify our collective impact. Our collaborative approach is rooted in the idea that shared knowledge leads to stronger advocacy, and that access to justice can only be achieved by working together.

How We Collaborate

We build lasting partnerships with law firms, legal advisors, and refugee-led initiatives worldwide. Together, we work to strengthen access to justice through four key areas:

Co-developing the Rights in Exile Platform

We jointly maintain and expand our legal information databases so that displaced people and their advocates can access accurate, up-to-date legal resources across multiple jurisdictions.

Additionally, we keep growing our database of local legal advisors and organisations that can be contacted for support.

We partner with legal professionals in different countries to bring cases before international human rights bodies. By sharing strategies and testing legal pathways across borders, we learn together and assess how effectively these mechanisms deliver access to justice when national systems fall short.

We facilitate and regularly engage in knowledge exchange among legal initiatives worldwide, sharing good practices, exploring the innovative use of legal tools, and supporting each other’s efforts to make justice more accessible.

We engage with people who have lived experience of the asylum system to ensure that the way we present legal information is relevant, accessible, and user-focused. Their insights shape our language, priorities, and approach. Looking ahead, we are committed to further strengthening and expanding refugee participation across all aspects of our work.

Examples of Our Collaborative Work

AsyLex x Asylos

AsyLex and Asylos are transforming RiE’s Country of Origin Information (COI) section into a trusted, easy-to-use resource, giving legal professionals and asylum seekers the information and contacts they need to secure justice.

Partnerships with Global Law Firms

Through our collaborative partnership model, law firms support the updating of the RiE databases with, researching legal frameworks and LGBTQI+ related information. In return, lawyers gain practical skills in international human rights research and contribute with tangible impact to meaningful projects.

Strategic Litigation with Local Legal Advisors

We team up with legal professionals worldwide to bring joint submissions to international bodies. These cross-border efforts test how treaty mechanisms function in practice and are featured in our Best Practice section.
